Pseudo Document Types allow for the placement of images in multiple locations.
However, a pseudo Document Type points to an existing
Document Type and stores all
database information in the same tables.
For example, there may be two sites that process purchase invoices and the purchase
invoice data is to be stored in one
Document Type (say, Pinvs) so that both sites
can access the data from the one database table.
However the network between the two sites is slow and cross viewing of images between
sites is minimal.
One
Document Type, Pinvs, is set up, but two pseudo sites are created both pointing
to the Pinvs
Document Type.
The two pseudo sites are set up with local volumes.
The majority of images are thus retrieved locally.
Only when one site wishes to view another sites images is there any cross network
traffic.
